Continuing on our tour of Coltrane's landmark 1965 recordings, we arrive at Ascension. Arguably the most important recording of Coltrane's entire cannon, it announced Coltrane's unrestrained solidarity with the "New Black Music" revolution and was hailed by Down Beat as "possibly the most powerful human sound ever recorded".
